Polish citizen assembly on food policy
How to ensure that by 2030 food consumed in Poland is healthy and produced in an environmentally friendly manner?
About this process
A national Citizens' Assembly on food policy will be held in Poland in the Spring of 2024. The assembly forms part of the EU project on citizen participation in climate protection and green transformation activities.
The Citizens' Assembly offers space for discussion and joint reflection on solutions regarding the future of food policy in Poland. The Assembly consists of a randomly selected group of people, diverse in terms of gender, age, education and place of residence.
As part of the panel, we want to jointly consider how to increase the availability and consumption of healthy, nutritious and environmentally friendly food in Poland.
A change in how food is produced and consumed in Poland is needed to improve the population's health and lessen the negative environmental impact. The majority of Poles do not follow a healthy diet, with a lack of affordability of healthy and sustainable food i being among the contributing factors. Obesity is a social challenge, impacting the youngest generations in particular. A change is needed so that food that is healthy and sustainable would be the default, easy choice to make. In this context, we are looking for an answer to the question:
How to ensure that by 2030 food consumed in Poland is healthy and produced in an environmentally friendly manner?
The panel meetings will be held on two weekends across May and June 2024.
