Welcome to the forefront of change, where feminism meets environmentalism. We're thrilled to invite you to our groundbreaking Feminist Festival, a pivotal event within the REAL DEAL project, aimed at amplifying the voices and experiences of people within the European Union.
Why It matters
At the heart of our festival lies a powerful mission: to reimagine the landscape of EU policy through the lens of ecofeminism. We refuse to accept the status quo, where the voices of people from marginalised groups are silenced amidst the urgency of the climate crisis. Instead, we champion a bold approach that acknowledges the interconnectedness of systems of oppressions in shaping our environmental reality. It's time to listen, learn, and act.
What we will discuss
Prepare to be inspired and engaged as we dive into four key topics: gender equality & climate, environmental racism, climate migration, and energy poverty. We're flipping the script on traditional policy briefs, transforming recommendations into powerful works of art and activism. Our aim is clear: to create a brave space for discussions and we will explore how to ensure EU policymakers hear our demands for change.
Who is behind this initiative?
Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), as part of the REAL DEAL consortium, are proud to invite you to this event. Together, we're paving the way for a more just and sustainable future, one where the voices of the oppressed are elevated, not silenced.
It's time to come together, raise our voices, and carve out a future that's truly equitable and sustainable for all.
Together, we will create recommendations to shape EU’s Feminist Green Transition, join and help us make democracy stronger.

A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.
Women Engage for a Common Future and European Environmental Bureau starts planning the Feminist Festival. A barriers analysis for participation is done, coupled with a brainstorm on how to engage people from outside our civil society networks
We've meticulously selected a diverse cohort of 100 participants, each representing a mosaic of backgrounds and perspectives. From all corners of Europe, our attendees are united by a shared curiosity about the intersection of feminism and the Green Transition. We've deliberately sought out citizens who may be new to EU processes, ensuring fresh perspectives and untapped potential for change. Participants are now under way booking their travel to Brussels.
Participants starts preparing through our online platform. They will read preparatory documents and has the possibility engage in discussions under the debate page. Participants also starts making preparations for their travel.
Participants come together to learn more about the Green Transition from a gender just perspective. They will get to pick one topic to engage in: climate migration, environmental racism or energy poverty. The day will mix artistic expressions, with group exercises and discussions. At the end of the day, the groups will come together and shape key recommendations on these topics and how they relate to gender equality and the Green Transition.
Organisers will tidy up the recommendations and insert them into an interactive online document.
The cleaned recommendations are shared with participants whom will have 2 weeks to give input and make edits. After two weeks have passed, an online call will be held to jointly go through and approve or disregard the edits.
Organisers and participants will share the outcomes with their national decision-makers who are Members of the European Parliament. The organisers will also launch the outcomes on social media and other platforms.
